We decided to give cruising a second go, this time cruising on Carnival Sunshine. Though it will never be my favorite way to travel, it’s a great opportunity to visit new ports. And it’s also nice to spend a week with no cooking or cleaning or decision making!
Hiking Indiana Dunes is an experience like no other. Here you’ll hike over giant sand dunes that lead the way to the shores of Lake Michigan. There, while you listen to the waves and feel the soft, squish of the sand between your toes, you can make out the outline of Chicago in the distance. The city is just 36 miles away, but feels like another world.
Congaree National Park in South Carolina is a unique experience. You hike a boardwalk trail through a swamp. The view is other-worldly as cypress tree knees rise out of the water.
